Before You Apply to Be a Volunteer

• Verify your membership is current at members.aaps.org. Membership is required for all AAPS volunteer positions.
• Update your profile at members.aaps.org/myaccount to include:
  • Full contact information, including mobile phone, ethnicity, and gender (My Profile tab).
  • An AAPS Community (My Communities tab) - you must be a member of at least one AAPS Community to volunteer for any role in AAPS.
  • Current Work Environment and the stage of the Drug Development Process in which you work (My Interests tab).

AAPS members may only serve on one standing committee at any given time. Members may volunteer for Community Leader roles and short-term service (e.g., Conference Buddy, moderating a session, serving as a mentor, etc.) at any time regardless of other roles held. Contact membership@aaps.org with questions about this policy.

Current committee members who wish to be considered for vice chair must complete an application.

AAPS is Now Seeking Volunteers for....

• People and Member Culture Committee – Application deadline: December 17 at 5:00pm ET
  Assist the Board in ensuring that AAPS is a welcoming organization to all scientists by providing a transparent, inclusive experience and creating equitable access to valuable personal and professional development opportunities for all members.

• Fellows Committee – Application deadline: December 19 at 5:00pm ET
  Help oversee the selection of Fellows, recognizing select AAPS members for their scientific impact in the field.

• Awards Committee – Application deadline: December 22 at 5:00pm ET
  Assist in the AAPS Awards Program, which brings attention to, and celebrates, impactful science as well as the scientists who serve as role models in the pharmaceutical science community.

• Lead an AAPS Community – Application deadline: December 22 at 11:59pm ET
  Community leaders to drive professional interactions, networking, and educational growth in their community. This year we are seeking a chair and a vice chair for each community, to serve in this role from March 2026 through September 2027. (Chairs will then transition to the Past Chair role, and Vice Chairs will transition to the Chair role, serving October 2027 through September 2028.)

• AAPS Board of Directors – Application deadline: January 20 at 5:00pm ET
  AAPS depends on elected Board members to fulfill its mission to advance the capacity of pharmaceutical scientists to develop products and therapies that improve global health. Successful candidates for President-elect and Member-at-Large will begin service on October 1, 2026.

  • Nominators: Please select Board of Directors: Recommend a Candidate from the Role drop-down menu. Candidate recommendations will only be accepted until January 15 to give the candidate time to submit their application.
